The city sets the pace here: Turin runs a continuous programme of exhibitions, concerts, festivals and markets that has nothing to do with the agricultural calendar. North of the city the Canavese runs up towards the Gran Paradiso, with Ivrea's Battle of the Oranges at carnival as the most famous single event in Piedmont. Use this area when the weather closes in on the hills, or when you want something on a Monday.
