Sestriere, TO
A purpose-built ski resort at 2,035 metres on the pass between the Val Chisone and Val Susa, created by Fiat's Giovanni Agnelli in the 1930s. It has no old village and the architecture is 20th century, dominated by two cylindrical hotel towers. It is the Italian hub of the Via Lattea ski area, which links across to Montgenevre in France.

- Chiesa di Sant'Edoardo, the resort's round modernist church of the same period
- The Colle del Sestriere itself, a regular Giro d'Italia and Tour de France summit
- The Via Lattea ski area, around 400 kilometres of linked pistes across Sestriere, Sauze d'Oulx, Sansicario, Cesana, Claviere and Montgenevre
Things to do
- Ski the Kandahar Banchetta and Sises slopes, including floodlit night skiing
- Play the golf course, among the highest 18-hole courses in Europe, in summer
- Cycle or drive the Colle delle Finestre gravel pass nearby
- Mountain bike the marked summer trails

FIS Alpine Ski World Cup races
Sestriere has hosted roughly seventy World Cup races since 1967, but it does not appear on the calendar every season.
When to visit
December to early April for skiing, July and August for golf and biking. In May, June, October and November the lifts are shut and the resort is effectively empty.
