Moncalieri, TO
A town of about 55,000 immediately south of Turin on the Po, the largest of the city's satellites. The reason to come is the hilltop Savoy castle and the old centre below it, plus a local food tradition built on tripe.

- Santa Maria della Scala, a Gothic collegiate church holding the remains of the town's patron
- Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, the cobbled main square laid out in 1825, with a Neptune fountain
- Collegio Carlo Alberto, the historic college building in the centre
Things to do
- Order trippa alla moncalierese, the town's signature dish
- Walk up from the square to the castle terrace for the view over the Po plain towards Turin
