LU SANTO JULLÀRE FRANÇESCO - STAGIONE TEATRALE 2026/2027

Address: via Ammiraglio Mirabello 3 Teatro Civico - 15057 Tortona On the centenary of the birth of Dario Fo, Matthias Martelli brings to the stage Lu Santo Jullàre Françesco, an alternation of jesters’ pieces and scenes from the life of the saint, which become a mirror through which to question the present. Martelli’s physical theatre – centered on the power of gesture and the body – intertwines with the linguistic variety of the text, alternating Lombard-Venetian, Neapolitan and the vernacular of central Italy. On stage there is a single actor, and yet the spectator finds before them a teeming fresco of bodies, characters, voices. We fly from comedy to poetry, from the grotesque to the melancholy, never losing sight of sharp irony and laughter, in the best jesters’ tradition. by Dario Fo and Franca Rame direction and performance Matthias Martelli sets Fabio Carpene costumes Giovanna Fiorentini lights Alberto Ciafardoni sound Marco Ava original music Andrea Chenna production Teatro Stabile Torino – Teatro Nazionale, Teatro Stabile dell’Umbria
