Turin and food in the City Archive” recounts, in a detailed and engaging way, the deep link between food and the history of Turin over a broad time span, from the sixteenth century to the twentieth century. A journey that crosses cultivation, supplies, processing and trade in food, without forgetting the cultural and social dimension that has always accompanied the way of eating. The exhibition route develops through a rich selection of materials – documents, prints, drawings, projects, posters and photographs – capable of restoring the connections between food, territory and society. The first sections introduce the urban and peri-urban landscape, where cultivated fields and vineyards shaped the Turin hillside, offering a glimpse of a city deeply tied to its agricultural dimension.
