End: 19:00 The exhibition presents one hundred photographs taken mainly between the nineteen fifties and nineteen sixties, through which Fan Ho (1931-2016) tells the story of urban life in Hong Kong with a personal and recognisable gaze. Born in Shanghai and moved to Hong Kong at the age of eighteen, the photographer focused his research on the daily life of the city and its inhabitants: workers, street vendors, children and passers-by become the protagonists of images capable of conveying the dignity, hardship and resilience of everyday life. Streets, markets and alleys are transformed into settings of great visual intensity thanks to rigorous compositions, essential geometric lines, strong contrasts and a particularly effective use of light. Shadows, backlighting and chiaroscuro give life to almost cinematic images, poised between realism and abstraction.
