Ends: 16:00 The historic guided tour at Castello di Rivoli offers a journey through over a thousand years of history, exploring the frescoed rooms of the Royal Savoy Residence and the link between Baroque architecture and contemporaneity. The October guided tour Sunday 11 October, 14.00 During the 11 October appointment the focus will be on the seventeenth-century Castle which in October 1693 was put to fire and sword by the French army. The only room to survive the fury of the flames of 1693 is the Sala di Amedeo VIII on the second floor, an intact seventeenth-century treasure chest that still preserves today the original frescoes and decorations of the seventeenth century, the Manica Lunga. It was precisely this disaster that led Vittorio Amedeo II, years later, to entrust the building site to the Baroque genius of Filippo Juvarra.
