Address: Via Verdi, 30 Vercelli (VC) On the occasion of the eighth centenary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi, Museo Leone in Vercelli offers a fascinating exhibition itinerary set in the setting of the Sala d’Ercole of Casa Alciati. The review highlights an unexplored aspect of the personality of its founder Camillo Leone, revealing his intense passion for bibliography and the Middle Ages alongside his well-known fame as an archaeologist. The route offers visitors a selection of outstanding value focused on Franciscan spirituality and culture, through the treasures preserved in its own library. Among the main works, the illuminated liturgical codices stand out, such as the precious manuscript illustrated by Giovannino da Genova and the volume of Neapolitan school signed by the miniaturist Bonaventura da Spalato. There is no shortage of ancient manuscripts dating back to the XIII century signed by authoritative figures of medieval thought such as Angelo da Chivasso, San Bernardino da Siena and San Bonaventura.
