Address: Museo Leone, Via Verdi 30, 13100 Vercelli, VC “Tra santi e draghi: codici medievali e incunaboli francescani dalla biblioteca di Camillo Leone” is a precious exhibition of ancient handwritten and illuminated books, alongside examples of early printed production. The occasion for the event is the eighth centenary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi. The exhibition space is the beautiful Sala d'Ercole adorned with sixteenth-century frescoes. With this event, Museo Leone in Vercelli celebrates the Patron Saint of Italy, revealing to the public some of the most precious and hidden jewels of its library. The exhibition sheds new light on the figure of the museum’s founder, Camillo Leone: universally known as an "archaeologist", Leone in fact cultivated a deep passion for bibliography and for the Middle Ages, assembling an extraordinary collection of handwritten volumes and printed works of the fifteenth century.
