Venue: Teatro Regio Torino. Organizer: Teatro Regio Torino La traviata | Giuseppe Verdi A Director Jacopo Spirei returns to the Regio to reinterpret another great classic, after the success of Hamlet , and he does so together with set designer Gary McCann and costume designer Giada Masi, winners of the Abbiati 2025 award for the production of Thomas's opera. Taken from The Lady of the Camellias , itself based on a true story, La traviata is one of the rare subjects set in contemporary times chosen by Verdi, who also for this reason suffered heavy censorship at the 1853 premiere. It is the story of Violetta Valéry, kept by lovers of the Parisian demi-monde, placed before a choice: to bind herself to "a serious love" or remain "always free". She will choose love at the cost of a sacrifice greater than she had imagined. And while her family turns its back on her and an illness consumes her scene after scene, Violetta will continue to love until death. Playing her is the soprano Ekaterina Bakanova, who also returns to the Regio after the splendid performances in Massenet's Manon and in Poulenc's Dialogues of the Carmelites. She is joined by Galeano Salas and Vladimir Stoyanov in the roles of Alfredo and Giorgio Germont,
