Venue: Sala 500. Address: Via Nizza 280 Although they are two very different composers, Chopin and Šostakovič both play a fundamental role in the artistic activity of Yulianna Avdeeva, who has devoted her last two recording releases to them. The Russian pianist came to prominence by winning the Chopin Competition in 2010 - the second woman to achieve the feat after Martha Argerich in 1965 - and then took a seat on the jury in 2025. In the same year she also received the Diapason d’Or for her album Voyage-Chopin, dedicated to the composer’s final works. For her debut recital at Lingotto Musica, the pianist offers Chopin’s 12 études op. 25, a splendid synthesis of virtuosity and expressive intensity. The first part is instead dedicated to Šostakovič, with a selection of Preludes and Fugues from op. 87, in which the composer looks to Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier and reinterprets it in a twentieth-century key. Avdeeva devoted the complete recording of this work to Pentatone, released in 2025.
