Venue: Auditorium Giovanni Agnelli. Address: Via Nizza 280 For the first time on the stage of the Auditorium Agnelli, the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra boasts a long and prestigious history. Founded in 1901, it has worked with the greatest musicians of the twentieth century and every five years accompanies the finalists of the Chopin Competition in the performance of the Concertos for piano and orchestra by the most celebrated Polish composer. Its musical director since 2024 is Krzysztof Urbański, who has behind him a long collaboration with the NDR Elbphilharmonie and a discography ranging from Polish composers to the great works of late Romanticism and the twentieth century. The programme begins with a tribute to its native land with the Scherzo by Grażyna Bacewicz in the orchestral transcription by Urbański himself. This is followed by Elgar's Cello Concerto, born at a time of physical and inner hardship for the composer and immersed in meditative melancholy. The solo part is entrusted to Kian Soltani, also a first-time guest of Lingotto Musica: of Austrian-Iranian origins and already principal cello of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra with Daniel Barenboim, Soltani was a scholarship holder of the Fondazion
