Address: Via Nizza 280 There is a special atmosphere in the repertoire that Jean-Christophe Spinosi and his Ensemble Matheus bring to the Lingotto for their Turin debut: that suspended and luminous one of Christmas Eve evoked, at the opening of the evening, by Corelli’s Concerto Grosso op. 6 n. 8, one of the most beloved pages of Italian Baroque. Next, Vivaldi’s Nisi Dominus is entrusted to one of the world’s most celebrated countertenors, also making his Lingotto debut: Philippe Jaroussky, during his career - recognised among other things by three Victoires de la Musique and three Echo Klassik, in both cases also as singer of the year - has built with Vivaldi a relationship of fidelity and depth that is rare, returning continually to this repertoire as to an inexhaustible source of inspiration. The same dedication to the Baroque repertoire is characteristic of Ensemble Matheus, founded by Spinosi in 1991 and become one of the reference ensembles in the early music scene, with a multi-award-winning discography and a constant presence at the most important international festivals.
