Camillo Besana e la sua valle. Mostra sul pittore vigezzino
5 July 2026 — 1 November 2026 · Santa Maria Maggiore

Venue: Rossetti Valentini Foundation. Address: Rossetti Valentini Foundation, Via Rossetti Valentini 1, 28857 Santa Maria Maggiore, VB "Camillo Besana and his valley. A journey through places, people and seasons": this is the title of the unpublished exhibition dedicated to an interesting painter active in Val Vigezzo, who lived between 1887 and 1941. This exhibition continues the path begun by the Rossetti Valentini School (now Foundation) after the reopening of 2023, with the aim of rediscovering and enhancing the great masters of Vigezzo painting. In fact, Val Vigezzo has given art numerous figures, some better known to the general public and others still to be rediscovered, who followed figurative painting and in particular Divisionism between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Born in Malesco, Cesare Besana trained precisely at the Rossetti Valentini School of Fine Arts in Santa Maria Maggiore, where the exhibition is set up: here he studied with Pietro Maria Gennari, Enrico Cavalli, Dario Giorgis and Roberto Sella, then returned there as a teacher. After experiences in Bologna and Turin, Besana chose to return to his valley, making the territory the centre of his artistic research
