Address: Archivio di Stato, Via Arnulfo 15/a, 13900 Biella, BI To celebrate the 1200 years since the first written testimony of the place name Bugella, which later became Biella, the Biella State Archives are organizing an exhibition of historical documents. The ancient name of the city of Biella is attested for the first time in the diploma with which the emperors Louis and Lothair, on 10 July 826, granted to their faithful count Bosone the "villa que dicitur Bugella": this important document arrived in the city last July for the first time in history, and was the protagonist of the exhibition set up at the Palazzone by the City of Biella and Banca Patrimoni Sella & C. The diploma is now kept in the State Archives, where it will remain for a few more weeks before returning to Parma, its usual place of preservation at the local State Archives.
