Location: Gallerie d'Italia. Address: Piazza San Carlo 156 Intesa Sanpaolo brings to the Gallerie d'Italia in Turin the exhibition Anastasia Samoylova. Harbor , a new original commissioned project that brings the Russian-American artist to exhibit in Italy for the first time. Taking inspiration from Germaine Krull (1897-1985), a pioneer of modern and unconventional photography, and from Luigi Ghirri (1943-1992), an innovator of photographic imagery, Samoylova carries out her own photographic analysis by telling the soul of 7 European port cities: Genoa, Venice, Rotterdam, Marseille, Lisbon, Athens and Istanbul. “Photography is a medium that compresses time and space into a single frame” the artist states. Time and space are fundamental elements in the composition of a photograph, as they are for the development of port cities. Ports are structural spaces that have evolved over time and space, they are a nexus of transformations, intersections, dynamisms, contradictions, inclusions and exclusions, wealth and poverty, past, present and future.
