Alessandria celebrates in November the Regional Truffle Fair together with the feast of the patron saint San Baudolino. Alessandria, the capital of southeastern Piedmont on the plain between Monferrato and the Apennines, combines the feast of the protective saint with the celebration of the truffle, a prized product of the woods and hills of the province. The fair fills the streets and squares of the center with stalls where the trifolau display freshly harvested truffles, and visitors follow the scent among the market stands.
