End: 19:00 The Sagra Valsusina del Marrone in Villar Focchiardo is one of the most representative events of the Susa Valley, a festival that celebrates the local chestnut (which has been awarded since 2010 the Protected Geographical Indication as Marrone della Valle di Susa IGP) and the long chestnut-growing tradition of the area. Among the oldest chestnut festivals in Italy, it continues to attract visitors from all over the region and from nearby France, drawn by the authentic atmosphere and the enveloping aroma of roasted chestnuts. The star is the marrone, a prized and selected variety of chestnut, offered in every form: sweet, savory, transformed into creams, flours, typical sweets or simply roasted according to the ancient custom of the “Brusatà”. Alongside the tastings, the Sagra offers the opportunity to buy directly from chestnut growers, discovering the work behind a product that is as simple as it is precious.
