Sagra della Lumaca

Location: Govone The Sagra della Lumaca of Govone, in the heart of the Roero, is a food-and-wine event linked to the traditional patronal feast of the town. Organized by the Pro Loco of Govone, it takes place in the evocative setting at the foot of the Royal Castle and brings together Piedmontese cuisine, music and moments dedicated to the rural culture of the area. The absolute stars are naturally the snails, prepared in numerous variations. You can taste snails al verde, Parisian-style and fried, as well as the snail skewer and the snail crostini. A variety of preparations that allows this ingredient to be discovered through different recipes, from the most traditional to the most tempting. The menu also offers numerous specialties of Piedmontese cuisine, including raw meat, bergera salad, agnolotti with meat sauce, gnocchi with gorgonzola, sausage and beef cheeks in wine, ending with desserts such as bunet and panna cotta. To accompany the dishes, there are also wines from the wineries of Govone, strengthening the festival’s link with local food and wine production.
