Felice Milella is 13 years old, has a talent for tennis and a father ready to sacrifice everything to make him a champion, whether the boy wants it or not. Raul Gatti is a former tennis player who once reached the round of sixteen at the Foro Italico, but is currently receiving treatment at a mental health centre. Raul places an advertisement offering his services as a private instructor, and Felice's father, a management engineer at SIP with limited financial resources but no shortage of dreams of glory, sees him as the ideal person to help his son progress from regional tournaments to the national circuit, acting as his travelling coach. Felice, however, soon realises that Raul may have nothing to teach him on a tennis court, but perhaps something to teach him about freeing himself from his father's interference.
