Throughout the month, the villages of Ossola and Verbano will come alive with the rekindling of the ancient stone ovens, becoming the pulsating heart of events, tastings, workshops and excursions. The initiative brings together in a single cultural and gastronomic embrace the communities of the Aosta Valley, the Piedmont valleys, Lombardy and the territories of Switzerland, France and Slovenia, historically linked by the cultivation of rye and by the custom of preparing and baking bread together in village ovens. At the centre of the event there is in fact the ancient rite of baking: the neighbourhood ovens will heat up again to bake the typical loaves of black bread kneaded according to recipes handed down through generations.
