Organiser: Teatro Regio Torino La bohème | Ruggero Leoncavallo Puccini was not the only one to write an opera based on the Scènes de la vie de bohème by Henri Murger: Ruggero Leoncavallo too, in the same years, had dedicated an opera to the adventures, jokes, loves and sorrows of the young bohemians of Paris. Time has favoured Puccini's version, which has remained firmly in the repertoire, while Leoncavallo's version, staged a year later, in 1897, was forgotten. Right here at the Regio, the birthplace of the Puccini masterpiece, Leoncavallo's La bohème is brought back to the public in a rare staging opportunity, which will allow the audience to observe Marcello, Rodolfo, Colline, Schaunard and a city teeming with life with a different gaze, more faithful to Murger's text and perhaps also more realistic, but with music that does not renounce melodic effusion, the taste for pastiche, the rapid succession of moments of playful lightness and dramatic tension: all things in which the author of Pagliacci has few rivals.
