The Polentone Festival of Bubbio is one of the most deeply felt events in local tradition, an event that celebrates the authentic taste of polenta and the deep bond between history, territory and community. Its origins are rooted in an ancient legend that tells of a group of coppersmiths, struck by famine, who found help in the generous lord of Bubbio's castle. He gave them corn flour, thus allowing them to prepare a polenta so large that it fed the entire village. Even today, this story is reenacted with the preparation of the majestic polentone, made with eight-row corn flour, a rustic variety that gives it an intense and genuine flavor. The polenta is accompanied by a rich onion omelette and a tasty sauce of sausage and mushrooms, making the meal an unmissable experience. In addition to the large serving of polenta, the festival offers a unique atmosphere thanks to a rich program of events. The streets of Bubbio come alive with parades in period costume, the spectacle of the flag-wavers and performances by folk groups.
