In the heart of Poirino, a town located between the Turin hills and the Asti area, a historic event dedicated to two local gastronomic excellences takes place: the Asparago di Santena and the Tinca Gobba Dorata del Pianalto. This event has its roots in the early postwar years, when the agricultural community of the area decided to promote these typical products with a fair that over time has become an unmissable appointment for residents and visitors. The Asparago di Santena is a symbol of the clayey “Terre rosse” of the Pianalto, where it has been cultivated for over a century, thanks to a particularly favorable climate and soil. The Tinca Gobba Dorata, on the other hand, stands out for its characteristic color and for the hump that makes it unique. This freshwater fish, raised in the traditional “peschére” scattered across the Poirino landscape, is protected by the DOP mark, representing an excellence recognized at national level. During the fair, visitors can taste local specialties based on asparagus and tench in the town’s restaurants and at the food stalls.
